Sam Fender has given the complete sum of his £25k honor winnings to the trust for venues, which functions to preserve the United Kingdom's small music venues.

He was presented with the cheque on mid-October as his latest record his work was named the outstanding release of the last 12 months.

The musician has opted to give the cash to the MVT, in recognition of the essential function local spots fulfilled in his initial steps.

"I personally would not have achieved what I am doing today if it hadn't been for all the performances I did around the North East, and elsewhere, when I was beginning," said Sam Fender. "These spaces are renowned, but they are in difficulty."

Beginning in 2023, at least 150 of these venues have shut down – roughly 16 percent of the total UK scene.

Recently, top acts including Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Sheeran have all backed the trust in its efforts to support the industry, by adding a minor surcharge to their admission fees, which supports local stages.

He also took part, collecting in excess of £100,000 on his live tour to assist numerous grassroots venues across England, Scotland, and Wales.

The donation helped locations that were facing imminent closure due to challenges arising from floods, blazes and family tragedies, as well as regulatory hurdles, conflicts and sound issues.

Additional spaces obtained monetary aid in modernizing infrastructure and sound and lighting systems that positively impacted artists and audiences.

"The concept that funds from concerts in big venues backs the local stages, where it all starts for musicians like me, is just sensible," Fender has commented.

He is among several artists to give his award funds to charitable organizations.

Back when they received the award in 1996 for their record the album, lead singer the singer stated that the act would contribute their winnings to the charity the charity.

In 2002, musician Ms Dynamite shared her bounty between several good causes, such as the children's charity and a Sickle Cell charity.

"Additionally, I donated a £1,000 to Highgate Newtown, to their classes, because I trained in gymnastics when I was a child and they lacked new equipment," Ms Dynamite explained to outlets.

Previously, Ezra Collective contributed their funds to the local youth club that supported their group, alongside other local music groups.

Additionally 1994 winners M People contributed their prize to a MS organization after a acquaintance was diagnosed the illness.

"The victory was sufficient," stated singer the singer. "The money was the cherry on top but we could do without the cherry, because we had the main prize. So our success affected the lives of others."

Last week, the trust revealed it had protected two small stages in the South East, by bringing them into public stewardship.

The Joiners in Southampton and the second in the city were acquired under the public acquisition initiative, which is backed by the arts council and music fans who purchase "shares" in the venues.
